The Yurt is set on a purpose built, raised and insulated wooden floor.  The walls and ceiling are completely insulated with thick camel hair. Consequently it is snug and warm in winter; cool and airy in the summer, it’s a huge seven metres in diameter and was imported from Mongolia (where they call it a Ger).

Consequently it is snug and warm in winter; cool and airy in the summer. Alongside, is a purpose built hexagonal toilet building, offering a private shower, toilet and wash basin (set into a gorgeous macrocarpa bench). The yurt shares a fully-equipped outdoor barbecue shelter with our House Truck guests, and includes a gas barbecue, gas pizza oven and sink set on a macrocarpa workbench, along with outdoor tables and seating.

Inside is a single space with:
– a double bed and two separate single beds
– chairs and table, cupboard, blanket box, tea & coffe making facilities

Breakfast= We provide a limited quantity of: milk, breakfast cereal, loaf of bread, butter, home made jam, tea, coffee, sugar, AND (subject to availability) seasonal eggs, seasonal fruit – to help our late arriving guests (only on arrrival day/night, for paying guests only)BB

Bathroom robes and slippers = adult size only. If you’d like to keep and take them with you: Robes = $50 each; slippers = $10 per pair.

Bed Linen & Towels = are provided, and are washed in an eco-friendly ‘sensitive’ detergent, which contains no phosphates, enzymes, fragrance or dyes. It’s super-concentrated, so less packaging & kinder to the environment

Heating = an electric heater is available in the Yurt.

Lighting and electricity = the Yurt has a regular 240V supply, with room lighting, bedside lamps, NZ/AUS powerpoints and USB sockets.

Also included = your electricity in the Yurt and its toilet building.

 

Recycling bins are provided. We support Kaikoura’s 100% recycling ambition by recycling as much as we possibly can, and ask that you help us wash, separate and recycle the waste you produce.

Also available: A Farmers Cottage, Railway Carriage, Tipi (Teepee), House Truck and a Colonial Wagon so if you’re looking for something different…. 🙂
